Encore un interieur Japonais. Celui la a Niko.

Another interior from Japan. This one taken in Niko.

Another one of these fountains where you can wash your sins. This one in Nara.

This was taken at one of the 150 temple I’ve visited during my trip to Japan. Japanese are really good for temple. I never got tired of them !! This is my entry for this week PhotoFriday’s challenge: Road

Le fameux Daibustu a Kamatura au Japon

The great Daibutsu in Kamatura, Japan.

Some path in Tokyo … Leading wherever you want it to go …

By the number of purify fountain in Japan, I’d guess that Japanese are big sinners. There are fountains where you can get purified at every corner !!

Un bassin magique a Kyoto. Oui oui, magique !

A pond in Kyoto, Japan. Yes, I threw a coin. Still waiting for the wish to come true !

Haaaa .. a bit of history on 400iso !! Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion) is a Zen temple formally known as Rokuonji. In 1397 construction started on the Golden Pavilion as part of a new residence for the retired shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu. Kinkakuji was converted into a Zen temple after Yoshimitsu’s death in 1408. The Golden Pavilion functions as shariden, housing sacred relics of the Buddha and is covered in gold leaf. The present building dates from 1955 as the pavilion was burnt by a fanatic monk in 1950.
This picture was taken during my 2005 trip to Japan. I’m scanning my last color prints !

Too much color on this blog !! I had to post some black and white … Some fashion samples …

There was some photo contest with my guide Ingrid during the trip. Bike shooting was one of them. I believe this one was a contestant

C'etait a Kyoto.

It’s been a while, I know … But tonight I felt like scanning some of my Japanese pictures. Here is a lucky one which makes it to the blog … This was at Kyoto.

I came to visit Japan to see my firends of course but to take pictures as well. On my second day, I was all pumped up by a trip to Niko which was supposed to offer me some great picture opportunity. It was pouring rain. But there was a museum in the city ! We headed there hoping to find a great atmosphere and maybe a few nice piece. In any case, a museum is always a good place for pictures. It was the most boring museum on earth. 2 room filled with Japanese drawing which could have been drawn by my daughter (3 years old). I was very frustrated. I took this picture. Could someone tell me what it is ?

Tokyo is plenty of small restaurant such as this one, run by a couple of people, where you can grab a bite very quickly. The food is actually delicious and the atmosphere very laid back. My kind of place !!!

I have been quite busy lately with traveling and taking care of my twin. I’m back at scanning my pictures from Japan ! Here is one I really like, focusing on the texture of the stone with some Japanese characters.

While walking tru the Tori, we’ve passed along houses opened. Really quiet interior which matched perfectly with the relaxing atmosphere of the place

These are the famous Tori in Kyoto, Japan. There are miles and miles of path thru the forest and these huge red door every 50cm. They are bought by people and new one are installed each days. We spent quite a nice afternoon going thru these door. Definitely a place to go if you visit Kyoto.

This was taken in Nara while visiting the huge park leading to the Daibutsu Den (the largest wooden structrure in the world). There were plenty of school kids our for the day for what it seems was a school trip. They were everywhere ! It gave a very nice atmosphere to the place. These three were resting and chating.

Here is one of the main attraction in Niko, where we spent the week-end there. It was raining as you can see and add a nice atmosphere to the scene. Good relief from the craziness of Tokyo !

Hallucinant !

Dogs are also very fashionable in Tokyo … Amazing !

Lamode a Tokyo, c'est quelque chose ! C'est frais :-) Voici quelques exemples

Fashion in Tokyo is quite interesting. Very different. I don’t want to say it’s freaking out of this world but almost … Here are a few encounters …

More than 3 months after coming back from Japan, I’m starting to scan my color print. It’s a lengthy process .. First pictures were taken from the city hall which I believe is one of the tallest building in Tokyo. We spent quite a bit of time in there as the view is just … Amazing !! Voigtlander 15mm f/4.5 and my trusted M6TTL (now replaced by a MP)

Tri-x poussee a 3200.

During my trip to Japan, we of course ended up in Kyoto in the Geisha area … We didn’t see that much and to be honest I was a bit disapointed … I guess I was expecting something else … But anyway, it was another opportunity for some interesting shots. Here are 2 of them. Tri-X at 3200.

I’ve realized that visiting Japan without a guide could be quite a bit challenging. Japanese is of course the main reason if you can’t read/speak it and most people don’t speak english. I was fortunate to have the best guide in town ! My good friend Ingrid took a week off and took me everywhere ! She speaks fluently and knows the area pretty well. And have a motorcycle which is perfect to visit Tokyo. Anyway, this was the best guide I could dream of ! This picture was actually taken in Nara while we were enjoying a nice evening in a typical Japanese pub. I thin we ended up drunk though
