I was driniking a beer with a friend in San Francisco and I was taking picture of people passing in front of us. Looks like this girl saw my little game but I doubt she understood what I was doing with my small blue box

Well, it was meant to happen. As I experiment more and more with new gear, I had to stop at the Lomo corner. Just got a supersampler on the Bay and shot my first roll this afternoon. I have to admit that it is quite fun and it requires a completely new way of thinking and open up a whole new world of creativity. I’ll definitely carry this camera with me quite often …

This is a picture for this week’s challenge at Photo Friday. This was taken in 2003 in Hawai … I like the complexity of the tree and of course the more deeper complexity of love engraved on these …

It’s been a while since I’ve been to Santa Cruz. I really like the atmosphere of this city. Berkley like but a little cleaner with musicians everywhere ! These 2 were nice enough to play for my daughter !!
AMAZING picture of the day @ Outafocus: John.

Another of my poster series. This one for a famous Vodka. I just liked the color and the setup of these posters.
Picture of the day @ Electrolite: Chair.

I’m not particulary found of writtings on wall, but these with the color and texture of the wall drew my attention. Wish I knew what the wrtting mean though
Picture of the day @ Shots Photography: Racing for life.

Saw this newspaper on some stairs in San Francisco. I really liked the contrast between the paper and these dark stairs. I felt they were meant to be. And every day they play the same play …
Picture of the day @ She broke my heart, I broke her face

One of the reason I got interested in photography, was to be able to document some key memory for my daughter. My parents did it for me (I always spend hours going thru family album when I go back home) and I wanted to do it for her. Writing is one of this moment. Of course she’s only 2.5 years old and doesn’t write yet. But she sure know how to use that pen !

This is one of the thing I like about the United States. Crazy people (sometime just acting crazy …) in the street shouting whatever is on their mind at that moment. Reading the bible, complaing about this and that … In Europe, we complain a lot as well, but we do it in group. It’s very unusual to see someone by himself trying to make a point. This guy was the best and the message … Well, it’s up to you. I think he has some good point .. Maybe a little extreme, but definitely confident about his point of view !! Only in the US …
Photo of the day: Style in Progress @ Mute

Well blue ie is indeed. This was an interesting sculpture in San Francisco, with a magnificient blue which remind me of the “Bleu klein” which I’m familiar with since Yves Klein used to expose quite a bit at the Art Museum in Nice (my home town). So when I saw this color, I was a bit back in Nice …
Photo of the day: Priit at Spekter

I love to look at panel of poster in the street, especially if they’re been torned apart. This was the case with this one. I have no idea what the scary part is all about. Maybe something about a movie, but it sure got my eyes !! All the colors blend well togeteher, I couldn’t resist !

Oh my … This is a leg festival !! Well I’ve just received the authorization from my friend (whose name shall remains unidentified) to post this picture for this week’s photofriday.com challenge. I thought of that picture right away when I saw the theme of this week’s challenge: Silky. This is also my choice for the Best of 2005 theme.

I’ve promised color pictures, here is one from my walk in San Francisco this week-end. I actually passed in front of that woman and I thought to myself “She has some nice legs !!” .. As I was walking away I thought to myself “She really had great legs !!!”. I turned around and shot. At least she doesn’t have to sign a release form to be on 400iso.

I have finally decided to load my M6 with a roll of Reala 100. It’s been months since I haven’t shoot color and it’s been long enough in my mind. We’re going to San Francisco this week-end and you can expect some color pictures on 400iso next week ! Aren’t you excited ?
To kick off this color serie, a picture of my lovely wife taken last year. Playing hide and seek with my daugther

My daughter with her best friend. This was one of the first picture where I was satisfied with my new 35mm Summicron pre-ASPH. For some reaosn I have difficulty getting the kind of result I’m looking for. I guess I have to get used to the lens … But I kind of understand why it is called the king of bokeh. It is indeed very smooottthhh.

We did a 12 miles trail while in Lassen. It was very refreshing and it felt good to do some exercise … After all all we do all week long is sit on our chair (well, it’s the case for me anyway …). I like the atmosphere of this picture, the light … Feel very quiet.

I’m receiving increasing pressure to release more pictures and even migrating my old pictures to this new template (Pat from nordilux.com) .. I thought about migrating my old pictures but first of all it’s going to be a lot of work for me and then I think things need to move forward not backward. So I’m just going to release new material. This one is old (but never released !) taken last year in downtown San Jose. Yes. Downtown. San Jose. There are some photographic opportunity in that city. This was one of them

I’ve entered this picture for the Photo Friday challenge for the week of 07/08/2005. The category was candid. I’ve always feel a little nervous about releasing this picture on my blog. Maybe because I was ashamed of myself for not talking to that person after I took the picture. Maybe because I don’t give enough to the homeless in San Francisco. Maybe because I have everything one could hope and they have nothing. This is a very common picture in San Franciso unfortunately and we don’t notice anymore, unless I have my camera with me … Do I want to raise the awarness … ? Yeah right. It’s not like nobody notices …
I don’t know. It’s just a picture.

We went camping to Lassen volcanic National Park with a bunch of friends for July 4th week-end. I was very excited about the photographic opportunity. Unfortunately I forgot how bad I was at landscape photography … As I scan my negatives I feel shame all over me. Damn, why is it so complicated ? Maybe I should have used color instead of B&W. Maybe it’s more forgiving … I don’t know. Damn …
Here is the only one I kind of like so far …

One of the nice thing about my Canon Elan 7e was that 85mm f/1.8 I was using. A very fine lens and I’ve made some very good pictures of my daughter with it. One of my concern when switching entirely to Leica was the fact that my M6 0.72 might not be the best tool for portrait. I bought essentially the M3 to fill the gap and I bought a Tele-Elmarit 90mm f/2.8 along with it. This was my first roll with this fine lens. Right now it’s on CLA at Golden Touch but it should come back soon and I’ll definitely shoot more with it !

We went at Bass Lake for camping with a bunch of friends and particulary Alex (who also has a photoblog: Califoto ) who is well into photography as well. We saw this old barn which was to be honest the highlight of our week-end as far as photography goes He has some great pictures of that barn on his blog.

I’ve acquired from a fellow photo.net member (from Honk-kong !) a Bessa L with a Voigtlander 15mm. I was not quite sure what to expect from this lens as it seems to be really difficult to master. I’m on my third rolls with this lens and I’m starting to have some fun. You have to be careful with the metering since you pick up a lot of sky but you get use to it. You can really get clsoe to people and get interesting portrait without too much distortion, as seen in this picture of my little girl. Yes, the first picture of the new 400iso.com is my little girl … Who else ? After all, she is the one responsible for my passion.
